Hey, i'd like to say that your rendition of Despair and the other endless are the best i have ever seen by a fan. I would even say that they are better than the original art. You are a real artist and i can actually "feel" your depictions of the characters.
+10 points to you for making internet more awesome! + another 10 because.. Sandman!
Aww thanks so much - I think I would have been pretty pleased myself. That series was fun to do - taking only 3 hrs for each of the Endless. It was the first time I drew most of them, as well. Who's your favorite of the Endless?
You have the most perfect line work for the series, I must say.
I like all of the characters differently. Dream is of course a complex and fascinating character. I like the abilities of Despair; how easily humans can fall into her. The ambiguity of Desire is interesting; desire doesn't always bring good things. He/she is a sneaky one. I adore how you portrayed Delirium, that was spot on as well.
I think Delirium or Dream were my favorites with Despair being a close 2nd/3rd. I will redo them eventually. They were done for a livestream event that was 3 hours long and done for each night of the week - live digital art. The visitors told me which they wanted me to do each night.
Wow - this was buried in my message stack - I've been digging out lately. Sorry >.<
I like the live stuff, I just wish my bandwidth allowed for a larger surface area to work with in Photoshop or Painter. Currently I have to reduce my desktop to a ridiculously small size to stream effectively without hiccups. Generally for the quickie pieces like the Endless series I had a time limit of 3hrs each. In comics, as everything, time is money, so the quicker you are the more you make, so to speak. For polished pieces I can spend about 8-16 hours on a piece. The longest ever, has been a watercolor painting that took about a week and a half.
It's sadly one I don't have here on D.A. It's a large format piece - was the largest piece of watercolour paper I've ever used - about 8' x 5.5' Landscape and depicts Atlantis at the bottom of the ocean. It was a wedding gift for my brother and Sister-in-law.Nowadays 8-12 hours is the max I spend on a page from Azure, or a comission piece. Ocassionally a book cover will demand I spend a couple days on but even that is rare.
